I was a resident of Tarrant the first 20 years of my life and I had never been in Cedar House Cafeteria! I had no idea what I was missing, we had a get together with old classmates and they treated us like lifelong friends and even royalty! The food was great, the service was even better! Update:  we also had a recent breakfast at Cedar House.  Check out the photos.  Delicious!

It was a delicious lunch at Cedar House.  I had the stuffed pepper, turnip greens, fried green tomatoes, and Mexican cornbread.  The stuffed pepper looked somewhat dry, so my expectations were not high.  However, it was still very good.  My husband had the beef tips, which were also delicious. First time ever trying this restaurant I felt like I walked into grandma‘s house and she had a whole bunch of food ready to eat. Me my family and coworkers have been going to cedar house since 2000’s and it has not one time ever been a bad experience . Locally owned, hole in the wall venue, friendly service, amazing breakfast! Highly recommend anyone in the area to stop by and visit at least once. The fried pork chop and egg breakfast is second to none. The western or meat lovers omelette is absolutely delicious! The French toast is not for the diabetic with its extremely flavorful cinnamon and powdered sugar topping. Another recommended breakfast choice is asking for grilled toast, you'll think me later!

Five stars for atmosphere b/c everyone says "hey", waitresses call you sweetheart/baby/honey and the owner really wants to know how the food hit you...
This will cause huge trouble in the Pacific Northwest btw, so know that.
There once were places like this all over the Ham.  Walkers, Bogues, Nikis downtown, Social Grill, BBQ King/Constantines, Pioneer, Kopper Kettle....
Dang, I'm hungry now.
Menu at breakfast, steam table at lunch.

Ignore the mediocre rating for "atmosphere" here, because it is unimportant compared to the food and management. I've been coming here for years for two reasons: (1) The quality and flavor of the food, and (2) the customer-friendly nature of the owners and staff. Have been going to this place for so many years. Don't get to go as much as would like but I really enjoy the chicken and dressing , macaroni & cheese, and the green beans. This is probably my second or third time to come to the Cedar house each and every time the food has been amazing. It is an old-school cafeteria serving meat and vegetables. There were multiple choices each day for the entrée. I chose the hamburger steak. I also chose the term greens, black-eyed peas, and fried green tomatoes. Everything was amazing and tasted delicious. The staff continue to check on us and cater to our needs as we sat eating offering numerous times to refill our glasses. It’s a very comfortable atmosphere where you can come for a quick meal or stay and visit. This isn't a review of the present. My grandmother worked here when I was a very young child. I remember going here many times before she got sick and was no longer able to work here. Hazel White was her name. I remember the food was always so good and the people were the nicest. I haven't been there since at least the very early 80s. My grandmother passed away in 1982 and my parents decided to relocate us to Texas. I'm nearing 50 years old. June 18th to be exact. Oh my goodness!! This place is great!! I had smoked sausage and sour kraut, fried green tomatoes, new potatoes, jalapeno cornbread  and a slice of coconut cream pie for desert with sweet tea to drink. Everything was fantastic including the service. Lots of food for a reasonable price. I live an hour away but I liked it so well that I would drive the hour to eat there.

I recently visited this Meat and 3 restaurant and I have to say, it exceeded all of my expectations. The food was absolutely delicious, with a great variety of meats and sides to choose from. The portions were generous and the prices were very reasonable. The service was also top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who made sure our dining experience was enjoyable. Great food and atmosphere!
While waiting for my trailer to be unloaded I bobtailed down to this Cafeteria.
All food is Homemade!!!
Had the biscuits and gravy, pork chops, grits and eggs.
Fast and friendly service.
This is a family owned business, so give them our support.
Note new Hours.
Tues thru Friday 6:30am - 2:00pm.
The do have take out or sit a while.

First time eating here they are awesome im disabled and still learning to walk they were very helpful with cane in one hand and I'm not walking good they bought my tray to the table thanks a lot for that now the food was as great as the people who work there.
